Talking Pictures TV will give viewers another opportunity to see the 1970s drama series A Family at War, which has previously been broadcast on the channel.

A Family at War was created by John Finch, and made by Granada. It ran for 52 episodes over 3 series between 1970 and 1972. While it was predominantly made in colour, eight of them were produced in black and white owing to the ITV strike of the time. lt starred Colin Douglas, Barbara Flynn, Lesley Nunnerley, Colin Campbell and many others.
What is Talking Pictures TV?
Talking Pictures TV is available free-to-air on Freeview and Freesat in the UK. Its channel allocation is 82 for Freeview and 306 for Freesat. It is also available on subscription platforms, channel 328 on Sky Digital and 445 on Virgin. The channel is dedicated to vintage film and television, often highlighting forgotten treasures and classics.

It has been a few years since A Family at War was broadcast on Talking Pictures, it’s always nice when they give another opportunity for people to catch it. I was reminded that they had done so previously after Noel Cronin mentioned it in his autobiography.
For a show that ran for a couple of years, an astonishing number of episodes were made. I’ve seen nothing but positive memories of the series, and I remember being impressed when I have caught an episode or two.
When is Family at War being broadcast?
A new run of Family at War, from episode 1, will begin on Saturday 22nd February at 8pm. It will continue weekly around the same time.
