Adding to their growing lineup of American programming, British channel Rewind TV will broadcast the classic sitcom Bewitched, starring Elizabeth Montgomery. No broadcast dates have been revealed yet, but Bewitched has been confirmed as “coming soon”.
What is Bewitched?
Bewitched is an American sitcom that first aired on ABC. The series spanned 254 episodes over eight seasons from 1964 to 1972.
Bewitched follows the adventures of Samantha, a witch who marries a mortal. They both want to live a normal life without magic, but Samantha cannot resist using her magic to help solve her family’s problems. Alongside Montgomery, the cast featured Dick York as husband Darrin and Agnes Moorehead as Samantha’s mother Endora. Dick Sargent later replaced York.
What is Rewind TV
Rewind TV is a British channel on Sky (190) and Freeview (95). It features several classic television shows and movies from around the world. The schedule has included ITC series including Department S and The Prisoner. Other broadcast shows, some of which haven’t been aired for some time, include The Cuckoo Waltz, Worzel Gummidge Down Under, Monkey and Hancock.
The channel has recently started airing a large amount of classic American programming. Titles include Married With Children, Fantasy Island and Police Woman.

I remember catching reruns of this classic sitcom, alongside I Dream of Jeannie, on Gold around a decade ago, I never thought it would be picked up again. It isn’t a show I have seen too much of, so I am delighted to see it find another place on British television.
I have seen some negativity towards Rewind TV’s continual additions of vintage American programming. I understand their concerns, as there is a lot of British TV to draw from. However, I suspect these additions are part of an overall deal with a distributor, which the channel is seemingly doing well to make the most of. I, for one, look forward to seeing the show on a regular basis.
