Worthing Theatres has just announced that comedian Vikki Stone will star as the evil Abanazar in their Christmas pantomime, Aladdin, at the Pavilion Theatre.
In a first for Worthing Theatres, Vikki will play the male baddie; a role she is familiar with, having starred as both Abanazer and Fleshcreep for The Lyric Hammersmith to great critical and popular acclaim. She was twice nominated as Best Baddie at The Great British Panto Awards for her scene-stealing performances, with the British Theatre Guide describing her as “Pantoland’s most exciting new performer”.
Speaking of playing her role as a male baddie, Vikki said: “It’s important to note that not every girl grows up wanting to be a princess or a fairy, and not every boy wants to be a prince, and that’s okay. I’m a grown woman, who paints on a beard at Christmas time, shouts at kids, and that’s my job. Any kids reading this: you can be anything your imagination tells you, you can be”.
A highly respected comedian, writer, composer and actress, Vikki is perhaps best known for her original comedy songs including the internet hit “The Phillip Schofield Song”. She is also a regular face on TV with appearances on shows such as The John Bishop Show, Len Goodman’s Partners in Rhyme and Impractical Jokers to name a few.
Pantomime Producer Paul Holman said: “Worthing will have never seen a baddie like Vikki before. With her inimitable style and infectious sense of humor and fun, audiences won’t know whether to boo or cheer!”
Vikki joins CBeebies star Rebecca Keatley who will play Princess Jasmine in the production. With an all-star cast, spectacular scenery, glittering costumes and guaranteed laughs for all the family, Aladdin is set to be Worthing’s most exciting pantomime yet.
Aladdin runs at the Pavilion Theatre, Worthing from Friday 30th November 2018 to Tuesday 1st January 2019. For more information on tickets, please see the theatre website.
