Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company are bringing their re-potted version of the famous children’s story, The Enormous Turnip to Connaught Theatre, Worthing on Saturday 20 October. Following their sell-out shows of 3 Little Pigs, The Little Red Hen, Goldilocks & The 3 Bears and The Emperor’s New Clothes, this unswervingly energetic company returns with a brilliant adaptation featuring wonderful puppetry, live music and massive vegetables.
Living in their tiny shed squeezed in amongst the garden tools, Mr and Mrs Chickweed’s amazing prize-winning vegetables have taken over everything. Before they retire, they can’t resist planting one last seed, try for one more champion vegetable and one more trophy. But no one knew that a vegetable could grow bigger than the cat, bigger than the dog, bigger than you and me put together. It’s gigantic, it’s blocking out the light, it’s roots are under the house and it’s taking over. Stuff and Nonsense theatre company invite audiences to help save the day as they all pull together to get this enormous turnip out of the ground before it takes over the planet!
Amanda O’Reilly, Head of Culture for Adur & Worthing Councils, says “the show is a feast of fast action, brilliant puppets and is set in a delightful garden. The audience needs to be ready to help solve the problems the turnip starts to cause and everyone won’t be able to stop smiling. The ending is a real surprise.”
The Enormous Turnip will be at the Connaught Theatre, Worthing, on Saturday 20 October. For more information on the show and tickets, please visit the Worthing Theatres website.
