Dial 999 Returning to Talking Pictures TV

Talking Pictures TV will give viewers another opportunity to see the 1950s drama series Dial 999, which has previously been broadcast on the channel.

What is Dial 999?

“Each episode of the series sees Detective Inspector Mike Maguire, as a Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman posted to New Scotland Yard, solving crimes in London.” Talking Pictures TV synopsis

Dial 999 was produced by ABC Weekend TV and Ziv Television Programs. It ran for 39 episodes in a single series between 1958 and 1959. It starred Robert Beatty as Detective Inspector Mike Maguire, alongside John Howlett & Richard Bebb.

What is Talking Pictures TV?

Talking Pictures TV is available free-to-air on Freeview and Freesat in the UK. Its channel allocation is 82 for Freeview and 306 for Freesat. It is also available on subscription platforms, channel 328 on Sky Digital and 445 on Virgin. The channel is dedicated to vintage film and television, often highlighting forgotten treasures and classics.

This is another one of those shows that I remember being broadcast on talking pictures TV previously. I love the fact they give audiences a chance to catch something they may have missed.

you don’t see many ABC Weekend TV productions on television much these days. It’s a nice lesser known little slice of British television history. Bring it on.

When is Dial 999 being broadcast?

A new run of Dial 999, from episode 1, will begin on Tuesday the 4th of March at 7.35pm. it will then continue every Tuesday at 7.35pm.
