Discussing Francis Rossi’s Cameo in The Kemps – All Gold

Summary

Happy New Year! This is the first episode of The Quo-Cast for 2024. In this episode, Jamie Dyer reviews the documentary spoof The Kemps: All Gold, which aired on BBC2 over Christmas. It featured a cameo appearance from Status Quo’s Francis Rossi, who played a fictionalized version of himself. Jamie is joined by a special guest to discuss why Rossi’s appearance is significant, and how his public image has changed over the last 12 months.

The Kemps: All Gold is the sequel to the 2020 mockumentary The Kemps: All True, it follows Gary and Martin Kemp over a year, and documents the antics they find themselves in. Written and directed by Rhys Thomas, it has a narrative connection to the world of Thomas’ Brian Pern series of spoof music documentaries.
