Pre-1980 Titles Removed from Disney Plus UK (3rd February 2024)

In early February of 2024, dozens of titles were removed from Disney+ in the UK. The service first launched in March 2020 and offered consumers a vast amount of Disney-related content from across the decades. In addition to the expansive animation catalogue and offerings from acquired Marvel and Star Wars, the service offered a large amount of live-action content from the vault.

Sadly this unannounced removal of content sees much of the company’s vintage live-action content leave the service. While big hits such as Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Parent Trap and Pollyanna remain, assorted smaller theatrical movies, TV movies and Walt Disney documentaries enter the streaming vault. It is unknown whether any or all of these titles will return at some point.

Possible reasons for removal

1. It could simply be a money-saving exercise.
2. It may be a purge of low-viewed content.
3. There could be plans in place that the public is currently unaware of.
4. Licensing to another service
5. A technical glitch

The following is a list of titles which have been removed from Disney+ UK as of the 3rd of February 2024. Please note that we have chosen to focus on productions made before 1980, in line with our remit. Surprise removals include historical Disney favourites such as That Darn Cat, The Shaggy Dog and The Reluctant Dragon.
