ITVX have added an episode of the Thames version of This is Your Life from 1979. It features Eamon Andrews surprising comedy legend Eric Sykes with the famous big red book. The episode has also recently been broadcast on ITV3.
ITV has made this episode available to mark the centenary of Sykes, who was born on the 4th of May 1923. A writer, performer and director of over sixty years, his work in theatre, radio, film and television ranged from The Goon Show, Sykes and a… to The Plank and The Teletubbies. He passed away in 2012.
Based on the American show of the same name, This is Your Life began on BBC television in 1955, running until 1964. It was resurrected by ITV Region Thames in 1969, airing on the network until 1994. The show then moved back to the BBC before ending in 2003. Andrews was the presenter until his passing in 1987, when Michael Aspell took over.
It is unknown if ITVX plans to add or broadcast any more episodes of This is Your Life.
