Pluto TV has recently introduced a dedicated 24-hour channel for the 2000s sitcom Girlfriends on its ad-supported streaming platform. The dedicated linear stream runs 24 hours a day, featuring episodes from all eight seasons.
What is Girlfriends?
Girlfriends first aired on UPN in 2000 before continuing on The CW, where it wrapped up in 2008. It ran for 172 episodes over 8 seasons. In the UK, it has previously available to stream on-demand on Netflix.
The series starred Tracee Ellis Ross as Joan Clayton, alongside Golden Brooks, Persia White, and Jill Marie Jones, who played her close-knit group of friends. The show focused on their careers, relationships, and personal growth. Girlfriends was known for its portrayal of the lives of four Black women navigating the ups and downs of friendship, love, and life in Los Angeles.
The Rise of Pluto TV
Pluto TV has expanded its selection in 2024, with the addition of several linear channels devoted to classic TV shows. Dedicated channels include Dynasty, The Love Boat, JAG, and Melrose Place. The Classic TV channel has also recently had an overhaul, with Happy Days, Mork & Mindy, and The Brady Bunch added to the schedule.
