Given Up The Ghost

Continuing our series of written interviews with unsigned and independent acts, we had the opportunity to submit questions to Given Up The Ghost.

How did you form?

We formed around November 2016 from a couple of work mates – Mike (Vocals/Guitar) and Zoe (Drums) jamming out a few tunes we had ideas for. We auditioned a few bass and guitar players until we found Olly (Bass/Backing vocals) and it just clicked and felt right.

How would you describe your music?

Kind of grungy. Simple, guitar driven rock with decent melodies.

You released an EP recently, how did that come about?

It was an idea that we banded about for a while. After we played our first gig in April 2018 and had a positive reaction, we decided to go record our favourite 4 songs as a way of promoting ourselves. We’ve had some cool reactions so far from those who have heard it, we’ve kept promotion pretty low key.

What are your gigs like?

We always have fun and try to engage with the people there. It’s not as high octane as some of the local metal bands, but we try our best to rock out and have a good time whilst doing it.

Would you consider playing outside of Devon?

Definitely! We’ve played in Somerset, and would love to branch out further if a suitable occasion arises.
