ITVX Premium has added the 1980s drama series Howard’s Way to its platform.
Howard’s Way first aired on BBC1 in 1985, running for 78 episodes over 6 series until 1990. It was created by Gerard Glaister and Allan Prior. The show dealt with the personal and professional lives of the wealthy yachting and business communities in the fictional town of Tarrant on the south coast of England. The cast included Maurice Colbourne and Jan Harvey, who played Tom and Jan Howard respectively. Other actors include Glyn Owen, Dulcie Gray, Stephen Yardley and Tony Anholt among others.
The theme tune was composed by Simon May, who also performed the song with his orchestra. Lyrics were later added by Don Black, with vocals provided by singer Marti Webb. The song was a hit in the UK music charts, reaching the peak position of number 13.
The show has recently been seen daily on UKTV’s Drama Channel, running alongside classic editions of The Bill, Eastenders and Doctors. It was previously on UKTV Play as a result but doesn’t appear to be available at this time.
ITVX Premium is available for a subscription fee and includes content from Britbox and StudioCanal Presents. The complete 6 series of Howard’s Way can be streamed on the platform.
