British channel Rewind TV will broadcast the classic sitcom I Dream of Jeannie, starring Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman. No broadcast dates have been revealed yet, but the show has been confirmed as “coming soon”.
What is I Dream of Jeannie?
I Dream of Jeannie is an American sitcom that first aired on NBC. The series spanned 139 episodes over five seasons from 1965 to 1970.
I Dream of Jeannie follows the adventures of Jeannie, a 2,000-year-old genie who astronaut Tony Nelson discovers. While Jeannie wants nothing more than to please Tony and help him, her magical antics often lead to chaos as he tries to maintain a sense of normalcy. Alongside Barbara Eden as Jeannie, the cast featured Larry Hagman as Tony Nelson and Bill Daily as his befuddled best friend, Major Roger Healey.
What is Rewind TV
Rewind TV is a British channel on Sky (190) and Freeview (95). It features several classic television shows and movies from around the world. The schedule has included ITC series including Department S and The Prisoner. Other broadcast shows, some of which haven’t been aired for some time, include The Cuckoo Waltz, Worzel Gummidge Down Under, Monkey and Hancock.
The channel has recently started airing a large amount of classic American programming. Titles include Married With Children, Bewitched Fantasy Island and Police Woman.

When I first heard about reruns of Bewitched coming to Rewind TV, I wondered how long it would be before Barbera Eden’s iconic character would join the channel’s ever-growing American lineup. The two shows are often thought of in the same breath.
For those who may be feeling negative about the addition of another American classic, this is one of the best sitcoms of all time. I’m glad to see it has found a new home in the UK.
