Interview: Josh Lobley

Continuing our series of written interviews with unsigned and independent acts, we had the opportunity to submit questions to Josh Lobley.

How would you describe your music?

My music is acoustic folk rock, when I perform it’s just me and my guitar, soon to be my mandolin too once I’ve worked on my ability more.

What inspires you to write music?

Things around me. I interpret the world around and the people I come into contact with and write about that. About things I’ve done, seen and felt. I try and look at things for a third person perspective so I can make my music relatable to my audience.

Tell us about your upcoming release

I’m recording my second EP this weekend (6th & 7th October) but no confirmed release date yet. Possibly December 2018.

Where and how do you record?

I recorded my first EP in Shrewsbury in a small studio with a decent laptop software and my second EP will be recorded in Wolverhampton. I ask people on social who can help and I discuss with different people about how we can get the best-finished product.

What are your gigs like?

My gigs vary, as I’m still quite new (just over a year) to the gigging scene, my audience can sometimes be small but I can guarantee they are full of energy and effort with a lot of fun thrown in too.
