Continuing our series of written interviews with unsigned and independent artists, we spoke to experienced performer Joshua Takacs about his recent recording work.
- How did you start singing?
I originally started with dancing as I wanted to be like Michael Jackson. A few years after I started Singing and didn’t look back. - What’s the difference between singing on stage and recording in the studio?
I think the main difference between live and recording is you can record it over and over again until your happy with it but on stage you only have one chance to get it right. The buzz you get from the stage is the best where people are responding to you there and then, with a single you have to wait longer to get feedback. - How would you describe your music?
Not sure as I studied Opera/ Classical music and always wanted to be on the stage in Shows and Operas. However I have been on the cruise ships over the years and have sang many different styles. I am currently working on all sorts of tracks from dance, pop ballads and classical. - Who writes your songs?
I wrote a couple of my own songs but I also have worked and am working with 3 completely different artists on various songs. With Ches Haynes I have recorded two songs ‘Just Another Kiss’ and ‘Just To Please You’ both ballad West Indian style of music. DJ Mike Klaw we have co wrote a dance song which is currently in the final editing stages and we are working on some more dance tracks. Jeff Kristian which I have recently recorded the end title song for ‘Nightmare on 34th Street’ and again Jeff and I are looking to record a few more songs late this year. - Is there an EP or album coming?
As I mentioned I am working with different artists on tracks so would love to put together an album from various songs of Ches Haynes, DJ Mike Klaw and Jeff Kristian but I’m not sure if it would be too much of a random mix of songs and styles.
