Continuing our series of written interviews with unsigned and independent acts, we had the opportunity to submit questions to the band Wishing Wolf.
How did the band form?
Wishing Wolf started out as a solo acoustic project that our current vocalist just did for a bit of fun when he wasn’t busy. It wasn’t until he realized the past metal bands he had been in before were not what he wanted to do anymore and put full concentration into making Wishing Wolf a functioning 5 piece band.
How did you come up with your name?
Danny had written a song for a previous project of his, the name of which being ‘A Wolf With A Wish’. Upon starting his new band, he went back to this song to make the name ‘Wishing Wolf’.
How would you describe your music?
We’ve always had difficulty with this question because we’re influenced by so much. I think the aim of our sound is to put a modern twist on a genre we grew up with and hold quite dear to our hearts. Were all big fans of the mid-2000’s era of emo and we certainly aim to add an equal amount of nostalgia and originally to our music.
You have a Bandcamp tell us about your latest release.
As Long as You’re Here Tonight is our most recent release, it has a bit more edge than what our EP True Eyes has, its a good stepping stone for us since its a good representation of what our new music has to offer.
What are your gigs like?
Our live shows are packed with a lot of energy from all of us, we like to entertain the crowd and make them feel more involved.
