Jason King Coming to Rewind TV

Following the broadcast of the ITC series Department S, Rewind TV is due to air more adventures from the show’s Jason King

Rewind TV has announced they will be airing Jason King. They have been airing Department S since the channel launched in May 2024.

What is Jason King?

Jason King was first broadcast in 1971, running for 26 one-hour episodes until 1972. Based on the character from the series Department S, ITC Entertainment produced the show. It featured Peter Wyngarde in the title role, portraying the flamboyant author and detective.

What is Rewind TV

Rewind TV is a British channel that launched on the Sky platform in May 2024. It is available on channel 190. It features a number of classic television shows and movies from around the world. The schedule has included ITC series including Department S and The Prisoner. Other broadcast shows, some of which haven’t been aired for some time, include The Cuckoo Waltz, Worzel Gummidge Down Under, Monkey and Hancock.

The channel recently announced several “coming soon” additions to its schedule. These include gems from the TSW catalogue including That’s My Dog and The Cut Price Comedy Show. An announcement has been made about ITC’s The Zoo Gang, which is coming soon to the channel.

Jamie’s Reaction

It’s great to see another ITC series land on Rewind TV. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen this one repeated. Wyngarde’s character was incredibly influential from his choice of clothing, something which I’m sure is evident when watching the series in retrospect.

Unlike Department S, this show wasn’t shot on 35mm film. They used 16mm to cut costs, which may be noticeable in some places. This shouldn’t detract too much from the enjoyment of this rarely seen series.

Jason King is coming soon to Rewind TV. We will update when a confirmed date has been announced.
