British channel Rewind TV will broadcast Terrence Frisby’s Lucky Feller, a short-lived sitcom starring David Jason. The series will begin airing on the seventh of May, 2025. The show previously aired on Gold in the last ten years.
What is Lucky Feller?
Made by London Weekend Television, Lucky Feller was a short-lived sitcom that starred David Jason as Bernard “Shorty” Mepstead, a shy and good-natured plumber living in South London with his confident older brother Randy, played by Peter Armitage. Written by Terence Frisby, the series followed the ups and downs of their romantic and working lives, often centring around Shorty’s romantic interest in Kathleen Peake. She, however, is interested in Randy.
Produced by Humphrey Barclay, it ran for one series of thirteen episodes in late 1976. The cast featured Jason alongside Peter Armitage and Cheryl Hall. There are also appearances by Pat Heywood, Prunella Scales, Mike Grady, Maggie Jones, Burt Kwouk, and Saeed Jaffrey.
The UK’s Rewind TV and the ever-growing schedule!
Rewind TV is a British channel on Sky (182) and Freeview (92). It features several classic television shows and movies from around the world. The schedule has included ITC series like Department S and The Prisoner. Other broadcast shows, some of which haven’t been aired for some time, include The Cuckoo Waltz, Worzel Gummidge Down Under, Monkey, and Hancock.
In recent months, the channel has expanded to include even more variety, including American favourites such as The Monkees and Soap. Gems from the LWT catalogue are aplenty, as Don’t Drink the Water and Mapp and Lucia recently joined the schedules. Please Sir, also London Weekend Television, will air on the 1st of May 2025.

Around 2014, I purchased this series on DVD from the much missed Network Distributing. I was intrigued to see a young David Jason in something that seemed like a prototype for Only Fools and Horses, only Jason was playing the younger brother!
Jason is incredibly endearing here, all the more helped by the fascinating car he drives. Some of the material may not have aged well, but the narrative is a compelling one. It has been a while since I’ve seen it, but Cheryl Hall was a particular standout.
I recall that Gold played this sitcom a while back; it was rarely shown before that. Then it disappeared again, seemingly confined to the vaults. It is great to see Rewind TV pick up the mantle, and add to their ever-growing list of productions from the LWT catalogue.
