Mike Read to host a new show on Talking Pictures

1

Mike Read will front a new show on Talking Pictures TV, exploring blue plaques from across the UK.

What is The Writing on the Wall?

“Mike Read travels across Britain to find the intriguing Blue Plaques around the country, and the stories behind them. A blue plaque is a recognised symbol of the United Kingdom’s national heritage; a living footprint of history, with each one serving as a permanent reminder of an important contribution to the history of the country. The blue plaques commemorate notable, influential, and successful people from all walks of life.” Synopsis from Talking Pictures TV.

This is one of a few original productions on Talking Pictures TV. Read, alongside Noel Cronin, continues to host The Footage Detectives for the channel.

Jamie’s Reaction

What a fantastic idea for a show, and a fitting channel to broadcast it on. I have long been fascinated by blue plaques, and the history they celebrate. Mike has so many avenues he can go down, that this series could run for a long time if successful.

The first episode of The Writing on the Wall will air on Talking Pictures TV on Monday the 9th of September at 5:20pm. It will air weekly around the same time.

Talking Pictures TV is available free-to-air on Freeview and Freesat in the UK. Its channel allocation is 82 for Freeview and 306 for Freesat. It is also available on subscription platforms, channel 328 on Sky Digital and 445 on Virgin. The channel is dedicated to vintage film and television, often highlighting forgotten treasures and classics.
