Early episodes of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood have made their way to Amazon Prime Video in the UK. Part of a collection of programmes added by PBS Kids, it is the first time the show is available on a streaming service in the UK.
Created by Fred Rogers, Mister Rogers Neighborhood made its US national debut in 1968 on public television. Running for 912 episodes over 33 years, it has gained a cult following amongst generations of people who grew up with the show.
The episodes added to Amazon Prime UK originate from 1968, when the show was made in black and white. Their inclusion on the service coincides with the renewed interest in the show, and Fred Rogers; thanks to recent projects The series, and it’s creator, was the subject of the recent documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, directed by Morgan Neville. Rogers is also featured in the upcoming film It’s a Beautiful Day In the neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks.
