What is Paddington?
Michael Bond wrote about Paddington in a series of books beginning in 1959. The character’s transition to television occurred in 1976 with a series created by Ivor Wood and Filmfair, consisting of 56 brief five-minute episodes narrated by Michael Horden. The narrative centres on a bear from Peru who finds a new home with the Brown family after they meet him at Paddington Station in London.
Under Central ownership, the same company made three longer specials in the 1980s: Paddington Goes to the Movies, Paddington Goes to School and Paddington’s Birthday Bonanza.
