University of Chichester alumnus creates new drama serial

A new light drama serial is being produced and will be released from 10th September 2018.

The Hudsons brings us a fresh take on a classic idea, with everyday situations put under the spotlight, with a lightly jovial stance. Inspired by the long-running dramas of yesteryear, including the heyday of the likes of Coronation Street and American writers like Peg Lynch and Goodman Ace, this new audio serial will see initially just two characters and how the couple copes with everyday life and its little challenges and adventures.

Jamie Dyer, who devised the production, studied media at the University of Chichester from 2009, gaining his degree before graduating in 2012. Since that time, he has been involved extensively in radio presentation and production. When asked how he made the transition from the familiar music radio to the expanding world of speech and drama radio, Jamie says: “When I discovered the world of American Old Time Radio, as well as LBC and Radio 4, it was a light-bulb moment, and I found the scope for such creativity and expression. I totally fell in love with the medium.”

Produced under the banner of SouthWaves Audio, a development from a previous project based around community broadcasting, SouthWaves Radio, The Hudsons will be released four times a week initially, via podcast, eventually dropping to two episodes per week. There is the potential and possibility of regular radio broadcast, but that is still to be confirmed.

As well as writing and producing The Hudsons, Jamie stars alongside new actress Jane Grandle, with prolific American voice Pete Lutz in the announcer role.
