A Written Interview With Parallax

Continuing our series of written interviews with unsigned and independent acts, we had the opportunity to submit questions to the band Parallax.

How did you form?

In late 2015, our band’s drummer and bass guitarist left so only two original members remained. After a couple of months, we found a bass guitarist and in the early months of 2016, our new drummer joined the lineup. After 6 months, we found a new chief of drums then our guitarist left for some time. We tried two new guitarists but none had the sound we were after so we asked our first guitarist to come back. It was a very difficult process from almost losing the band completely and then finding the right replacement. Since June 2016, we came about as Parallax band

How would you describe your music?

We have been influenced by many genres so our music contains elements of grunge, progressive, post-rock, alternative rock, ambient rock. We would say that we are trying to make a mix combining of these main elements and turn in to something unique. Somebody said that we are like a new genre called Black Magic Rock. We take inspiration from the likes of Tesseract, Karnivool, Tool, Toska, Deftones and many more

Where did your name come from?

The name of Parallax came out of when we were trying to describe ourselves as a band. Wikipedia defintes the word Parallax as “Displacement or difference of object viewed along two different lines of sight”. So possibly have potential fans with different views, feels for our songs.

Tell us about your latest release…

Our latest release was a song called “Hourglass” which was featured on BBC INTRODUCING SOUTH in November of last year. We are currently working on our debut album.

What are your live gigs like?

Full on focus on music to keep the audience captive. We are trying to make the sounds flowing and have no breaks between the songs so everything is served at once so there is as much as experience as possible for the audience.
