Pluto TV has introduced a new channel in the UK service lineup. The 24-hour linear stream, Great British Classics, is now accessible along with numerous other themed channels.
The selection of films seems to range primarily from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. The set schedule, so far, has had very little in repeats. Many of the films derive from libraries owned by companies including StudioCanal. Random titles have included It’s Not Cricket, Lady Caroline Lamb and Night of the Eagle. The films aired on the channel are not available on demand.
In recent months, Pluto TV has broadened its offerings by introducing several linear channels focused on classic television series. These dedicated channels feature shows such as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Dynasty, The Love Boat, JAG and Melrose Place. The Classic TV channel has also been revamped to include Happy Days, Mork & Mindy, and The Brady Bunch in its lineup.
Jamie’s Reaction: I have often been somewhat underwhelmed by the selection of movie channels on Pluto TV in the UK, and had often thought there was a gap for vintage British film. While not all of the films on the schedule are classics (looking at you Holiday Camp), it’s nice there is a place to drop in for a taster. When browsing yesterday, I stumbled upon the original Brighton Rock. More please Pluto!
