Archive channel Rewind TV has launched on Freeview. It arrived as part of the service’s monthly update, and is available to watch on channel 95.
What is Rewind TV
Rewind TV launched on Sky in mid 2024. The channel offers a selection of classic TV from around the world, much of it unseen on broadcast television for decades. The schedule includes ITV and ITC classics including Return of the Saint, Department S, The Prisoner, Space 1999 and Sapphire and Steel. Other content includes comedy such as Watching, Cuckoo Waltz, A Fine Romance and Whose Line is it Anyway. Worzel Gummidge Down Under, Dick Turpin (Richard O’Sullivan), Monkey, Huckleberry Finn and his Friends and the TSW gems including That’s My Dog.
Despite launching on Sky months ago, the channel will reset all of its programming to the earliest of each, allowing new viewers to catch on.
Jamie’s Reaction
Finally! It feels like I’ve been waiting years for this channel to launch on Freeview, thanks to the anticipation brought on by their excellent social media coverage.
Freeview offers a wide range of archive television shows thanks to channels like BBC Four, ITV3, That’s TV, and Talking Pictures TV. Rewind the TV is already looking like an excellent accompaniment.
The channel is a wash with a number of well-known series, alongside things that I don’t think have been rerun on television in my 35 year lifetime. In particular, I am looking forward to seeing what they unearth from the rarely seen TSW library.
