Rock Legends – Status Quo is a 2007 compilation from Universal Music. It features a collection of singles and album tracks from the 70s, 80s, 90s and early 00s.
This looks like a selection of “hits” with a smattering of random tracks tacked on for good measure. The likes of Rockin’, Paper Plane, Caroline, Roll Over Lay Down, Mystery Song, Whatever You Want and In The Army Now are expected on something like this. Even hearing the live album version of In My Chair is a nice touch, along with the “live” version of Gerdundula.
Where this album feels a little flat is the random inclusion of album tracks without reasoning. Where I Am (humorously misspelt as Where Am I) is a lovely example of Quo doing something different musically, but other tracks could have served this purpose. Back on My Feet, taken from 1994’s Thirsty Work album, is a puzzling addition that lowers the credibility of this album.
Overall, this is a decent enough tracklisting with a basic selection of their best material.
