Talking Pictures TV have announced that they will begin broadcasting British series Special Branch in late August 2019.
Originally broadcast on ITV from 1969-74, Special Branch was made by Thames Television, with later involvement from subsidiary Euston Films, later famous for such series as Van der Valk and The Sweeney.
Special Branch concerned the exploits of the anti-terrorist department of the London Metropolitan Police, each episode centring around a particular case.
Talking Pictures are starting at the beginning of series 3, which was when Euston Films took over production and the series took on a more gritty style rather than the earlier traditional studio-based techniques. Fans of mid-seventies cop shows such as The Sweeney will no doubt be familiar with the format and style. Series 3 stars George Sewell and Roger Rowland as DCI Alan Craven and Bill North respectively.
Special Branch will be broadcast on Talking Pictures TV on Monday evenings at 9 pm from 26th August 2019.
