StudioCanal has announced its intention to release 1973’s The Three Musketeers and 1974’s The Four Musketeers on 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, DVD and digital platforms. It is the first time these films have been released in 4K quality, following brand-new restorations.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Three Musketeers‘ original cinematic release, both products are available to pre-order ahead of the 8th May 2023 availability date.
Directed by Richard Lester and starring Michael York, Raquel Welch, Oliver Reed, Frank Finlay and Christopher Lee, The Three Musketeers is a swashbuckling telling of the Alexandre Dumas novel of the same name, in which young D’Artagnan comes to Paris to join The King’s Musketeers regiment.
Its follow-up in 1974, The Four Musketeers, is its sequel, revisiting the same characters in further adventures.
Both films also feature a host of well-known and loved character actors and famous faces, including Charlton Heston, Roy Kinnear, Faye Dunaway and Spike Milligan.
The Three Musketeers 4K Blu-ray edition includes The Three Musketeers 4K restoration and special features such as The Saga of the Musketeers Part 1 and the US and UK theatrical trailers. The Four Musketeers 4K Blu-ray restoration includes The Four Musketeers and special features including Part 2 of The Saga of the Musketeers and the original trailer.
