In Search of the Fourth Chord was the 28th studio album by Status Quo. It was first released on the 17th of September 2007. The album saw Pip Williams return as producer for the first time since the Don’t Stop album. It reached a peak position of 15 in the UK album charts.
The lead single from the album was the track Beginning of the End; The accompanying music video was shot on the London Eye, and directed by John Keeling. The song reached 48 in the UK singles charts. The song has been a fixture in the charts ever since.
The song Bad News was written by John Rhino Edwards and was the first original Quo song to feature him on lead vocals. The song, proving popular with hardcore fans on the Status Quo Message Board, became the subject of a campaign to get the song in the charts. This resulting in a chart topping run on the HMV charts.
The album featured an Indiana Jones-inspired cover art and a title which poked fun at the “three-chord wonders” jibe that has become associated with Quo. The album was the first release on Fourth Chord Records.
