Cinderella, The Shoe Must Go On is a classic special originally broadcast as a television special in 1986. It was made by Central. It starred the legendary Danny La Rue alongside a cast including Cheryl Baker, Roy Kinnear, Lionel Blair, and John Inman. It was written by Barry Cryer and Dick Vosburgh.
Jamie’s Reaction
For someone who grew up watching ITV’s TV pantomimes in the late 90s, this 1980s production is a curiosity worth watching. It is full of faces of the era, including Brian Murphy, Mike Reid, Caroline Munro and Jimmy Cricket.
I’ve been fortunate to have seen this pantomime before, and it is sublime. Look out for a cameo from one of the writers of this production, who absolutely steals the show in his 5-second appearance! Thank you Talking Pictures for giving it airtime.
Talking Pictures at Christmas
Talking Pictures TV has announced several classic programs to air over Christmas. Highlights include a Dame Edna Special, and the 2000 adaptation of The Railway Children. In an annual tradition, the channel will also air the 1951 adaptation of A Christmas Carol, starring Alistair Sim.
