British archive channel Talking Pictures TV is to broadcast “Strange but True?“, a classic paranormal documentary series hosted by Michael Aspel.
What is Strange but True?
“The series explored a number of aspects of unexplained activity, from ghosts and poltergeists to near-death experiences, vampires and aliens. The series involved filmed reconstructions of classic cases with actors and interviews with the original participants and researchers in each event.” Synopsis from Talking Pictures TV
Strange But True? was hosted by Michael Aspel and first aired on ITV in 1993. Produced by LWT, the series ran for 39 episodes over 4 series. It ended in 1997.

I have great respect and admiration for Michael Aspel. The eclectic nature of his television work never ceases to amaze me. He had a lot of range having hosted Give Us a Clue, This is Your Life, Antiques Roadshow and this show.
This series won’t be for everybody, but I like that Talking Pictures is making it available again.
What is Talking Pictures TV?
Talking Pictures TV is available free-to-air on Freeview and Freesat in the UK. Its channel allocation is 82 for Freeview and 306 for Freesat. It is also available on subscription platforms, channel 328 on Sky Digital and 445 on Virgin. The channel is dedicated to vintage film and television, often highlighting forgotten treasures and classics. The channel also has a catch-up service called TPTV Encore.
Strange but True? will air on Talking Pictures on Friday the 10th of January at 8.25pm. It will continue each week around the same time Please see the channel’s schedule for any further screenings.
