Talking Pictures TV‘s featured movie of the day for 1st May 2023 is the rarely seen 1964 classic The Leather Boys.
The Leather Boys stars Dudley Sutton, Colin Campbell, Rita Tushingham and Gladys Henson. The film deals with the reality of a marriage between two teenagers and how they navigate the distance and differences between them.
Some of the themes in the film are not dissimilar to other 1960s movies, such as The Family Way, however The Leather Boys also touches on what was a very dangerous subject at the time, homosexuality.
The film is notable in various ways, not least in that it violated the Hollywood standard Hays Code, yet was still screened in the United States.
