If you missed Talking Pictures TV’s recent airings of Dixon of Dock Green, viewers will get a chance to catch up. Existing episodes of the BBC procedural, starring Jack Warner, have been airing on the channel every Saturday night since January. A weekly wednesday night showing will be added to the schedule.
Dixon of Dock Green ran for 432 episodes over 22 series between 1955 and 1976 on the BBC; Only around 33 episodes still exist; An episode from 1959 was recently discovered and will be broadcast as part of the main run. The character of George Dixon first appeared in the 1950 film The Blue Lamp, directed by Basil Dearden.
The extra run will begin with the earliest surviving episode, Postman’s Knock, from the second series in 1956. It will begin on Wednesday the 28th of February at 7:20 pm. It will continue every week at the same time. The Saturday airings will continue as normal.
Talking Pictures TV is available free-to-air on Freeview and Freesat in the UK. Its channel allocation is 82 for Freeview and 306 for Freesat. It is also available on subscription platforms, channel 328 on Sky Digital and 445 on Virgin. The channel is dedicated to vintage film and television, often highlighting forgotten treasures and classics.
