Pluto TV, an ad-supported streaming platform, has added a dedicated channel for The Love Boat to its linear TV lineup. It runs for 24 hours a day.
Following three TV movies, the series of The Love Boat first aired on ABC in 1977. It ran for 250 episodes over 9 series. Additional specials aired after the initial run finished in 1986. The main theme, The Love Boat, was composed by Charles Fox and Paul Williams and sung by Jack Jones.
The series was set on the cruise ship MS Pacific Princess, and revolved around the ship’s captain Merrill Stubing and his crew, with passengers played by guest stars for each episode, having romantic, dramatic and humorous adventures. The main cast featured Gavin MacLeod, Bernie Kopell, Fred Grandy, Ted Lange and Lauren Tewes.
Pluto TV has expanded it’s selection in July, with the addition of a number of linear channels devoted to classic TV shows. Dedicated channels include Dynasty, JAG, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Melrose Place. The Classic TV channel has also had an overhaul, with Happy Days, Mork & Mindy and The Brady Bunch freshening up the schedule. The channel had previously been home to non-stop repeats of Laurel and Hardy.
