Rogers and Hammerstein’s treasured classic The Sound of Music has been absent from Disney Plus for some months, having previously been on the service since its launch in 2020.

Starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, the story loosely follows a real-life story of singing family the Von Trapps. In the film, a young novice nun goes to the Von Trapp family as a governess with her work cut out: the seven children are challenging. When she and the stiff, authoritarian widower father fall in love, they have little time together before they all must use their singing gifts to help them evade the Nazis.
