British channel Rewind TV will broadcast the LWT sitcom Thick as Thieves, starring Bob Hoskins and John Thaw. The series will begin airing on the eighth of May, 2025.
What is Thick as Thieves?
Produced by London Weekend Television, Thick as Thieves is a 1974 sitcom that brought together Bob Hoskins and John Thaw as unlikely flatmates. Written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, the show centres on a man’s return from prison, only to discover that his best friend has moved in with his wife.
The series ran for one series of eight episodes and featured a supporting cast that included Pat Ashton, Johnny Briggs and Michael Robbins.
The UK’s Rewind TV and the ever-growing schedule!
Rewind TV is a British channel on Sky (182) and Freeview (92). It features several classic television shows and movies from around the world. The schedule has included ITC series like Department S and The Prisoner. Other broadcast shows, some of which haven’t been aired for some time, include Time After Time, That’s My Dog, The Zoo Gang, and Hancock.
Thick as Thieves joins the ever expanding LWT catalogue on Rewind TV, such as Dick Turpin, Don’t Drink the Water and Mapp and Lucia, Please Sir! and Lucky Feller, also from London Weekend Television, will begin airing on the channel in May 2025.

It has been quite a while since this series was last aired on television! I have seen it, and it is definitely a grower. It might not seem like much at first, but the performances of Hoskins and Thaw pull you in. It is a delight to see them both leaning more into comedy, before the dramatic roles they would mainly become associated with.
Thaw’s character, in particular, is an initial shock to the system if you’re used to him in other things. By the time episode 8 rolls around, you’re completely with him and his flaws. Although short-lived, this series is worth checking out.
I am astounded at the amount of titles coming to Rewind TV in the month of May. They’re really raiding the archives to find gems that haven’t been seen on TV for a while! Long may they continue.
