Talking Pictures TV have launched a new way of accessing their catch-up service, Talking Pictures TV Encore. The app, accessible on Fire TV-enabled devices and televisions, provides browsing and viewing of content which has been previously played out on their channel.
Talking Pictures TV launched initially as a satellite channel before expanding to Freeview. They air vintage and classic programming, with a large archive of Southern Television and Renown Pictures film and television programmes.
Their catch-up service offers much film and television content from the channel, for viewing after its initial airing. Also available are many Southern and Renown titles as full series, as well as Talking Pictures TV‘s own original content such as The Footage Detectives. But it has previously only been available via a web browser app on Smart TVs and devices or the Red Button service on Freeview.
In order to find the app on your device running Fire TV software (so a Fire-enabled TV or Amazon Fire stick or cube), type “TPTV Encore” into the search field on your device.
We took a look at the App soon after launch and it feels faster to navigate and more intuitive than using the service via the browser. There are easy-to-find sections and categories for different types of content. These, coupled with fast loading times and clear-to-read thumbnails, make it an even more pleasurable experience to enjoy Talking Pictures TV‘s offerings.
Talking Pictures TV Encore also have an improved website, with better navigation within a title’s timeline, making it easier to fast-forward and rewind programmes. It will also resume your programme if you have to leave and come back to finish it, at a later time.
