Talking Pictures TV has announced the addition of the Granada Television series Travelling Man to their schedule. The series will air starting from the 23rd of November.
What is Travelling Man?
Travelling Man “tells the story of former detective Lomax who after serving time for a wrongful bribery charge, seeks vengeance aboard his narrow boat among canal travellers, isolated from the law”. Synopsis via Talking Pictures.
Created by Roger Marshall, it first aired on ITV in 1984, running for 13 episodes over 2 series until 1985. It starred Leigh Lawson as Lomax, with a supporting cast including Terry Taplin and Tony Doyle.
The Eclectic Schedules of Talking Pictures
Talking Pictures TV has a reputation for unearthing hidden gems from the archives, airing shows that haven’t graced television screens for decades. Recent additions to their eclectic schedule include Dixon of Dock Green, Z Cars, Out of Town, Love For Lydia, Victorian Scandals and Worzel Gummidge. BBC series Beau Geste is due to debut on the channel on the same day as Travelling Man.
Talking Pictures TV is free-to-air on Freeview (channel 82) and Freesat (channel 306) in the UK. It’s also available on Sky Digital (channel 328) and Virgin (channel 445) for those on subscription services. As always, the channel is dedicated to highlighting forgotten treasures and iconic classics of British television and cinema.

Talking Pictures pulls another rarely-seen series out of the Granada archive, further exploring the breadth of the regional company’s contribution to British television history. Travelling Man, starring Leigh Lawson, sounds like a gripping drama series that is perfect for Saturday nights!
When will the series air?
