Victorian Scandals Coming to Talking Pictures

British archive channel Talking Pictures TV is to broadcast the 1976 Granada series Victorian Scandals. It will air in October.

What is Victorian Scandals

Victorian Scandals was made by Granada Television and aired for 1 series in 1976. In each episode, Famous 19th century British scandals were dramatized in 60-minute playlets, highlighting both the tawdry details and the human element. Performers included Patricia Hayes, Nigel Havers, Richard Wilson, Shirley Cain, Peter Egan and many others.

What is Talking Pictures TV

Talking Pictures TV is available free-to-air on Freeview and Freesat in the UK. Its channel allocation is 82 for Freeview and 306 for Freesat. It is also available on subscription platforms, channel 328 on Sky Digital and 445 on Virgin. This edition follows a number of recent arrivals on the channel, including Love for Lydia and (very soon) Z Cars.

Jamie’s Reaction

Just when I think Talking Pictures TV couldn’t possibly unearth anything else, this turns up. Like Love for Lydia, this is another series I wasn’t aware of. It sounds like an interesting premise which could provide many different varieties of storytelling.

The list of performers isn’t too shabby either, and these anthology series always provide a great opportunity to see more faces, some of which may not have been seen in quite a while.

Victorian Scandals will begin airing on Talking Pictures TV from Sunday the 20th of October 2024. It will air weekly at 9pm.

We will endeavor to update when further programming announcements are made.
