British channel Rewind TV will broadcast the classic Yorkshire Television sitcom You’re Only Young Twice, starring Peggy Mount and Pat Coombs. The series will begin airing on the 12th of May, 2025.
What is You’re Only Young Twice?
Made by Yorkshire Television, You’re Only Young Twice is a sitcom set in a retirement home, where order and discipline are regularly disrupted by the mischievous antics of resident Flora Petty, played by Peggy Mount. Pat Coombs co-stars as her timid yet loyal friend Cissie Lupin.
The show originally aired on ITV from 1977 to 1981 and ran for 31 episodes over four series.. The series was created and written by Michael Ashton. Alongside Mount and Coombs, the supporting cast included Lally Bowers, Diana King, and Charmian May.
The UK’s Rewind TV and the ever-growing schedule!
Rewind TV is a British channel on Sky (182) and Freeview (92). It features several classic television shows and movies from around the world. The schedule has included ITC series like Department S and The Prisoner. Other broadcast shows, some of which haven’t been aired for some time, include The Cuckoo Waltz, Roobarb, Dick Turpin, and Hancock.
The channel has constantly expanded its output, continuing to add classic TV series, many of which stem from ITV’s regional past. Upcoming additions for May 2025’s schedule include Please Sir!, Thick as Thieves and Lucky Feller. We will be sure to keep you updated when further titles are announced.

I remember this series! It was rerun on ITV3 at various points during the 2010s. It features the marvellous Peggy Mount in a later role, but still hitting the strengths she was known for during earlier series, including The Larkins. This is the series in which I discovered and subsequently fell in love with Pat Coombs, who is as delightful as ever. Now we have two shots of Coombs on the channel!
I’m excited to see that Rewind TV is continuing to resurrect series that were once a fixture, but have largely been forgotten. From what I remember, You’re Only Young Twice was perhaps a little sleepy and the comedy a bit out of its time; It is, however, a little gem that deserves to be seen.
